Christian + Maureen :: San Diego Wedding

The party started bright and early with the arrival of the makeup artists at 4:00am, and the music didn’t stop until well past 11:00pm that night.  When you celebrate passion like Christian and Maureen have for each other, you can’t constrain it to a measly 8, or 12, or 14 hours.  As the sun rose over downtown San Diego, a buzz was in the air at the Hard Rock Hotel, where the wedding parties were feverishly preparing for the amazing day that lay before them.  The ladies put the finishing touches on their makeup, the guys made sure a drink was in hand and their cheap drugstore sunglasses were accounted for.  After a magical First Look atop the Hard Rock, the party took us to Anthology for an afternoon of incredible music and dancing, which went late into the cool San Diego night with a private after-party for family and friends.  Thank you Christian and Maureen for one of the most incredible wedding days we have ever had!  And thanks for joining us the next afternoon for your After Thaute session in Mission Beach!

Joe + Brianne :: A Lake Tahoe Wedding

There is something spectacular about Lake Tahoe.  No matter what time of year, the view of the deep blue lake and surrounding mountains is always breathtaking, it reminds you of how much good there is in the world.  When you get to share such an amazing celebration such as Joe and Brianne’s wedding, on the doorstep of one of God’s greatest creations, you have to remind yourself that you do this for a living.  On the shores of South Lake Tahoe, under a bright sun and soft breeze, these two tied the knot in front of family, friends and dozens of tourists and sun worshipers.  And as the sun made its memorable descent behind the Sierra Nevada range, we looked around at this magical setting, pinched ourselves to make sure it was still real, and we couldn’t help but smile.  What a perfect day.

Kasra + Susan :: A Santa Monica Engagement

On a beautiful summer day, the crowds flock to some of LA’s most famous landmarks.  The Santa Monica Pier was no exception, and as we weaved our way through the tourists and street vendors to meet up with Kasra and Susan, we started thinking where we could escape the hoards.  Luckily, we were able to find a few spots of solace from the mayhem on the boardwalk, and our two subjects acted as if they were the only souls atop the wooden structure, jetting out into the golden Pacific waters.  Kasra has to be one of the most affectionate grooms we have met, which made our jobs so much easier.  There was no complaints from either one when we asked them to kiss, or hold each other, or whisper sweet nothings into a lover’s ear.  We followed them from the Santa Monica Pier crowds to the peaceful Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where we finished up our amazing day with the perfect light of sunset streaming through the steel, concrete and glass of the amazing grounds.  Thank you guys for braving the stampedes, being up for anything we asked, and especially a fantastic dinner!  We cannot wait for your wedding later this summer at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills!

Bob + Therese :: A San Diego Trash the Dress Session

Some people truly live life to the fullest, squeezing every smile, every laugh, every joy out of each moment that comes their way.  For Bob and Therese, who were looking for that perfect way to celebrate ten years of blissful marriage together, the only true way to commemorate was to have one final fling with the most memorable symbol of their wedding day, her gown.  Amazingly, after a decade, she fit easily into the dress, and looked radiant.  Their two boys joined us for some backyard fun before we headed off to explore San Diego.  Where else can you mountain bike in a wedding gown, hit the streets of Pacific Beach and finish off with a romp in the Pacific Ocean?  Thank you guys for a wonderful day, and I still can’t believe that your gorgeous wedding dress ended up in the dumpster!  What a way to go!

Scott + Kirsten :: A Parkfield Wedding

Weddings like the one Scott and Kirsten hosted come along only so often.  A wedding so unique, so intimate, so detailed, that you have to stop and pinch yourself to make sure you’re not dreaming.  My first pinch was on the drive to the wedding site, a town called Parkfield, population 18.  We drove for 15 miles on a one-lane road, passing horse pastures and thousands of cattle.  The hand-painted wooden signs kept us on track, but when we reached the town itself, we blinked and missed it, heading another several miles past our destination.  After a few dirt roads and some frantic phone calls with one half a bar of cell service, we realized our mistake and returned to the town.  When you park, you look to your left and see one half of the town, the Parkfield Lodge.  Turn to your right, and the other half greets you, the Parkfield Cafe.  Now this isn’t just any old town in the middle of nowhere, it happens to be the Earthquake Capital of the World, a town with more scientific equipment monitoring the ground than anywhere else on the planet.  It was definitely a unique setting, but the details really made this wedding spectacular.  The groom in his custom cowboy hat and boots, the handmade leather photo guest book the couple made themselves, the rustic feel of the celebration made us feel like part of a huge family, and it was amazing to witness.  Thank you to the girls at XOXO Bride for putting on such a spectacular event.
